QJ was founded in 2005 and was around until 2016. It was one of the most significantly ambitious, high revenue, and long-term projects to be taken up at the time and the dramatic cliffhanger for QJ was in 2015 when Google changed their policies which required affiliates to gain permission from each merchant they wished to promote, before being permitted to commence with an Adwords campaign. It made the model QJ had used for years, completely unsustainable.
After trying to exist without Google AdWords for a while, QJ faced that they could not maintain their advertising expenses and they sadly stopped existing.
Even so, it was a great system and we were happy to be their main developers.
This impressive project was designed and developed from scratch, based upon clients’ requests. Originally, Quotation Junction had fewer employees available than the number demanded. However, the project had evidently evolved into a large, ongoing development with 5 full-time developers and this ensured that there was still room for the clients’ business plans and models to expand.
QJ was a B2B/ B2C lead-generation platform that aimed to generate a high volume of quality leads to its participating vendors and merchants purely on a pay-for-performance model. The lead-generation service was available in over 25 categories of both small- and big-ticket products and services.
Prospective buyers could submit generic “Request for Quotation (RFQ)” forms per product category, or product-specific RFQs and QJ would help buyers find the best supplier suited to the RFQ.
Participating suppliers paid a fee for every successful lead (RFQ) generated, which was based on the category and the locations that they were interested in.Additionally, the cost per lead could be set by suppliers on an auction basis as well and suppliers could also control their marketing spend by specifying the maximum budget on leads per month.
There were two types of suppliers: prepaid and postpaid. Pre-paid suppliers had to top-up funds in their account to continue receiving leads from QJ, while postpaid suppliers had to pay according to a monthly auto-generated invoice from QJ.
QJ tracked transaction histories via feedback from both buyers and suppliers, regarding each other’s experiences. QJ also offered excellent customer service with a LiveChat and smart ticket system.
All the content on the site was managed via an easy-to-use CMS. The main site administrator could provide access to other users of the CMS with various roles using a rights/permissions system that allowed the users to read , write , edit and content.
QJ also offered revenue generating opportunities for smart web publishers who could participate in the QJ affiliate program and thereby got more suppliers/vendors to use the lead generation service. Besides an easy-to-use affiliate interface, the QJ affiliate management system helped affiliates generate revenues with excellent marketing support in the form of widgets and banners. They could also compile accurate reports and statistics on the performance of the various creative marketing tools, as well as all the commissions generated.
